An English Lady

Today marks the Feast of Our Lady of Walsingham, the commoration of the apparition of Mary in a vision to Richeldis de Faverches, a devout Saxon noblewoman, in 1061 in the village of Walsingham in Norfolk, England. Lady Richeldis had a Holy House built in Walsingham which has become a shrine and place of pilgrimage to Anglicans and Roman Catholics alike.

Magnificat. St. Luke i. 46.
My soul doth magnify the Lord, * and my
spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
For he hath regarded * the
lowliness of his handmaiden.
For behold, from henceforth * all
generations shall call me blessed.
For he that is mighty hath magnified
me; * and holy is his Name.
And his mercy is on them that fear him *
throughout all generations.
He hath showed strength with his arm; * he
hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He hath put down the mighty from their seat, * and hath exalted the humble and meek.
He hath filled the hungry with good things; * and the rich he hath sent empty away.
He remembering his mercy hath holpen his servant Israel; * as he promised to our forefathers, Abraham and his seed, for ever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end, Amen.

Christmas Returns to Richmond

American Family Association reports that our taking time to get involved in the “holiday parade” has influenced Dominion Services and Richmond, Virginia, parade organizers to reverse an earlier decision to replace “Christmas” with “holiday.”

Late on the afternoon of October 5th, after thousands of emails and hundreds of phone calls to Dominion, parade organizers yielded to Christian opinion and posted a statement on their website stating, “In light of the outpouring of support for retaining ‘Christmas’ in the name, our board has voted to change the name to the ‘Dominion Christmas Parade.'”

Beloved in Christ, businesses need to know you stand for the true the meaning of Christmas. As Christians, we can remind everyone that Christ is the true meaning of Christmas by being a witness.

Thanks to AFA for their coverage and organizing a response.
