Persecuted Christians

This coming Sunday, the First Sunday in Lent, will include special intentions for persecuted Christians throughout the world, and in particular those suffering at the hands of Islamic terrorists.  All are urged to contact their representatives and the White House to respectfully voice our deep concerns for the plight of our brothers and sisters now daily suffering the most vile kinds of martyrdom.  The Lenten mite boxes available at Mass will go directly to aid displaced and suffering Christians in the Middle East.

Of Pancakes and Ashes

PancakesIt doesn’t seem possible but Lent is soon upon us.  Next Tuesday we will have our traditional Pancake Supper at St. Alban’s beginning  at 5:30 p.m.  Join us in Smith Hall for hymn singing, fellowship and, of course, breakfast for dinner cooked by the men of the parish.  Those bringing bacon, sausage or both are asked to prepare them at home to be warmed at the church.

There will be two services on Ash Wednesday at noon and 6:30 p.m. with Imposition of Ashes at both.  Confessions will be heard from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and again from 5:00 p.m. until 6:15 p.m.  During Lent, the Sacrament of Penance will be available by appointment with the Rector and following the regular daily 8:00 a.m. Morning Prayer on Fridays.
